Eran Amsalem, PhD

I am a Lecturer (U.S. Assistant Professor) in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

 

My research examines the media coverage of politics and the way mass and interpersonal communications shape political attitudes. I am also interested in the communication, decision-making, and personality traits of political elites. In my studies, I use a variety of quantitative methods, including experiments, elite and general population surveys, meta-analyses, and computational text analyses.

 

I received my Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Antwerp (a joint degree) in June 2019. My dissertation examined the nature, causes, and consequences of simple political communication. Between September 2018 and December 2019, I was a Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University's Department of Political Science.

 

When not doing research, I like running long distances outdoors, listening to 40s and 50s blues and folk music, and playing chess.
